Outdoor Therapy
Nature often inspires us to express ourselves through vivid metaphors. Clients frequently describe sensations of being exposed or uprooted, capturing the essence of their internal experiences. This process helps articulate our feelings and fosters understanding and healing, allowing us to fully process and gently file painful experiences away into the past. Many clients share that through this process, they experience a more profound sense of calm, connectedness, and gratitude, often finding relief from anxiety and overwhelming feelings.
About Michèle
Life can be challenging, especially when it comes to relationships. You might feel lost, unfulfilled, or overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings, whether due to unexpected events or ongoing stress. This can lead to exhaustion and make daily life harder to manage.
As your counsellor, I provide a safe and supportive space for you to share what’s on your mind and what you’re going through; I want you to feel less alone with your worries.
I focus on helping you identify negative patterns in your thinking, feeling, and behaviour that might be keeping you stuck or stressed. Understanding where these patterns come from can help you gain self-awareness and reconnect with your true self. This can lead to personal growth, better relationships, and an improved quality of life.
Being active and spending time in nature can help heal our minds and bodies and I offer the option to work in the outdoors, as well as traditionally. Many clients say they feel calmer, less lonely, and more grateful during these sessions.
Taking the first step to get help can feel difficult so I promise to respond gently and kindly. We can start with a 30-minute phone call to help you feel comfortable before deciding to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Relations and Counselling from Robert Gordon University and Human Development Scotland.
I am experienced in supporting individuals grappling with anxiety and depressive symptoms as a result of what they have lived through. This can include bereavement, marriage breakdown, family issues, work-related stress, and all periods of transition—such as moving from school to university, becoming a parent, adapting to an empty nest, retirement, loss of identity/ purpose or going through menopause. I also offer my support to individuals facing a sense of abandonment, fear, isolation, loneliness, and rejection, ensuring they feel understood and cared for. I am passionate about the outdoors and enjoy working therapeutically with clients in our natural environment.
Alongside my private practice, I am a Support Worker for a third-sector charity supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse. I also have extensive experience in supporting bereaved parents and belong to the bereavement counselling team at Strathcarron Hospice.
